Was IT Really Worth The Watch?
October 20, 2017
The movie IT has been the talk of the town. The horror movie first surfaced in 1990, but was recently remade this year. The movie released September 8, 2017 and quickly gained reviews and plenty of rotten tomatoes. Some say the movie was a little frightening while others claim it was actually kind of funny. Personally, I don’t think it was worth the watch and I would really appreciate it if I could have my five dollars back.
Pennywise
“You’ll float too”
Like a balloon, Pennywise should just float away out of existence. He is one of the main characters of the movie and apparently he is a shapeshifter. He takes the form of a clown and hunts children for a living. Obviously, this guy is sick and probably had a horrible childhood based on his choice of prey. Pennywise is this horrific monster and he has been haunting children for centuries on top of centuries. Every twenty-seven years or so, he preys on the children of Derry, Maine and manages to go unnoticed by the adults of the city. Insane, right. Of course, Pennywise is defeated in the end or moreso sent into “hibernation,” but he will return when his twenty-seven years are up again. Oh, yeah, and he lives in the sewers of Derry, Maine.
Children of Derry
The children of Derry, Maine consist of Beverly, Ben, Richie, Bill, Eddie, Stan, and Mike. These are the children that decide to go against Pennywise and bring him to his final end. They call themselves the “Losers Club”, which is a name they chose since they are all victims of bullying. They figure out that It takes the form of the things they fear and try to overcome their fears knowing this will help them kill It. Another child of Derry is Georgie who is the brother of Bill. He falls victim to Pennywise on a rainy day when his paper boat falls into the sewers and Pennywise convinces him to get close enough to devour.
Is It The End?
There have been rumors that a sequel will follow this year’s IT. The sequel is set to release some time in September of 2019. The movie will probably consist of the children of Derry who survived in their adult years. They will most likely be coming back to kill Pennywise once again and hopefully once and for all. Most people will probably invest their money into five dollar Tuesdays to see this sequel in 2019, but I on the other hand will spend my five dollars on something actually worth my time. Maybe a time worthy plot twist would be if Pennywise had a family of some sort or even just other horrific friends. That is something I would possibly spend some change on, but who knows the script could change hundreds of times before the actual release. Whatever the movie involves, the rotten tomatoes never lie.
