Attending a Junior H concert was just a great unforgettable experience from the start to the finish. The moment that the lights dimmed, and the first beats of his latest new song “Rockstar” played, I was filled with joy. Thousands of fans screamed his name, and his famous shout “JUNIOR aaaaH” in Spanish. Everyone immediately was on their feet and started to sing.
The energy was contagious as fans of all ages sang all the lyrics of his old Corridos Tumbados, to his new songs from his latest album $AD BOYZ 4 LIFE ll. Although most of his songs represent the heartbreaks of a breakup, his songs are still very good. Between songs, Junior interacted with the fans and paused to talk about his journey, demonstrating gratitude. I liked how he is very aware of his fans’ surroundings, for example, while he was signing one of his songs, he noticed that in his VIP section were fighting, so he stopped the song and out loud told them and everyone not to fight but to have a good time safely.
The live band was just incredible, as you were enjoying the show, you could hear the drums, the baseline feel heavier and hit like thunder, and the accordion. All these instruments play some of his famous hits like, “Extssy Model” “Como Jordan” and my all-time favorite “Luna.” As I was experiencing the show, and listening to his career-beginning songs, it reminded me of the 13-year-old in middle school with my school Chrome book listening to my Corridos Tumbados.
As it was Mexican Independence Day, Junior brought out a live Mexican Banda, to play “La Sinaloense” engaging the audience to grab their partner and dance the night away. While the band was singing, bright green, red, and white confetti was thrown, to represent the Mexican flag. Along with the confetti, Junior and his team brought out several flags and waved them from side to side to represent the culture, and flag for Mexican Independence.
As I was leaving the concert, I felt a mix of emotions. I felt a mix of nostalgia and disbelief that I got to experience a concert with my significant other while knowing back then we couldn’t be together as a couple. Overall, it was an incredible show, filled with talent, a celebration of Mexico, culture, and dreams.
