Once again this year, Hillcrest’s Key Club and Energy Club volunteered to clean up a Chicago beachfront in conjunction with the Shedd Aquarium.

According to Hillcrest Guidance Counselor and Energy Club Sponsor Lindsay Lopez, “When the Shedd Aquarium reached out to [Ms. Amy Trench Key Club Sponsor and P.E. Teacher] about Hillcrest participating in the Adopt-A-Beach clean up day, we were all for it.  All of the Key Club and Energy Club members love this field trip because it gives them a chance to help the environment in ways they have never done before.”

Students were able to contribute to the betterment of the community and have a fun outing at the same time. “Key Club and Energy Club has a blast at the Shedd Aquarium Beach Clean-Up. Both clubs split into teams and collected over 30 lbs. of garbage in total!!” said Jazmine Jean-Simon (‘18).
