Junior boys’ bowler Malik Brandon had quite the 2019-2020 season. His 201 pin season average led the team, but his leadership, sportsmanship, and positive attitude towards his teammates, coaches, and opponents was what made Malik a standout student athlete. Even when Malik was not bowling his best, he never lost focus or motivation to keep trying. His knowledge of the sport and his ability to help others out when they are having bad days made Malik an invaluable asset to the team.

In addition to his amazing support to his teammates, he is also quite the accomplished bowler. Malik took home several top ten finishes in tournaments this season including the Oak Forest Invite (5th place), the SSC Blue Conference Tournament (8th place), the IHSA Regional (9th place), and the IHSA Sectional (7th place). These accomplishments throughout the season included many incredible scores, but Malik saved his best for last at the IHSA State Finals.

Malik was the first Hawk in ten years to quality for the Boys Bowling State Finals. His performance at state is the best that a Hillcrest boy has ever achieved. Malik’s 217 average over the twelve game tournament included his season best 279 game. His incredible bowling over the two days earned him a 14th place finish: an amazing feat considering the intense competition from great bowlers across the state.

Congratulations Malik on all of your accomplishments this season! We look forward to seeing what you will do next year in your fourth and final year at Hillcrest.
