Getting to know the ’22 Valedictorian: Jennifer Okechukwu

Kendall Price, Staff Writer

Jennifer is a multi-talented individual and the best and brightest Hillcrest has to offer. She has made a huge impact on Hillcrest during her tenure at the school and will surely go on to live a productive and fulfilling life.

She will be continuing her education at the Purdue University this coming fall, where she will be majoring in Biomedical Health Sciences Pre-Med Track. The future is bright for her, and I hope she will continue to perform at a high academic level. Oh, and did I mention she received a full ride scholarship to Purdue as well?

I’ve had the pleasure of growing up with Jennifer and seeing her progress throughout the years. She has always been a smart, headstrong individual with her eyes on the prize. Jennifer has been at the top of her class since we were in grammar school – posting all A’s her entire school career, as well as have amazing test scores to match.

That’s why it wasn’t a surprise for me when she was chosen as the class of ‘22’s Valedictorian. Her work ethic is impeccable; she is always studying trying to better herself and improve on the little things, and she is also very humble and never puts down others. She has even tutored me on several occasions helping me get passing grades in three classes. I appreciate her very much for that.

What people may not know is that she is also a very talented athlete. She is not only a good volleyball player, but a good softball player as well; she has been The Hawk softball team’s primary pitcher for the past two seasons.

“I love going out and playing hard with my teammates,’’ Jennifer said. Although they may not win many games, nobody can questions Jennifer’s hard work and dedication to the sport.

Finally, Jennifer is really funny and fun to hang out with. She is always the life of the party and cracks the most hilarious jokes that will have you in tears. Jennifer also enjoys watching anime and reading books, in fact we were just playing silent library in class the other day. Jennifer is a great person in her community as well volunteering for numerous programs.

I can’t wait to hear what she’s cooked up for her valedictorian speech on graduation day. I’m sure it’ll knock my socks off.

Congratulations Jennifer, keep being  great!
