Hillcrest Girls Basketball Preview

Bryce Tillery and Leterious Hall

Your Hillcrest girls home and season opener was supposed to take place last night against Bloom Township.

Unfortunately, they weren’t able to have the game due to Bloom having some problems on their end. I know this crushed the girls after having to practice hard for the past two weeks. Our girls team is looking to go even farther than last year’s regional championship.

Returning from that team is Kahlyse Wright, Renasia Adams, Sungie Cobb, Amarria Jackson, Lamia Betts and Jamila Mitchell who were all contributors to that team’s success and look to bring that energy this season. We also have some newcomers including Davia Cobb, Dajha Johnson, Treazure Coleman, Nadilee Miller, and Arriyana Amison.

The Lady Hawks are coached by Schodrof, Clark, and Tanzania.

Kahlyse Wright, a team captain, is a two year varsity starter and has been an outstanding player through her previous 3 years in the program. Her highest point game is 30 points which she did as a sophomore! We asked Kahlyse what is the best part of being a Lady Hawk. She told us, “the best part of being a lady hawk is the community being part of a family.”

We also asked her what is a game she is looking forward to and why. She said, “I look forward to playing TF South because it is always a good crowd and very intense atmosphere and always a fun game.” Looks like we all should look forward to the TF South matchup!

Our Lady Hawks look to make a strong push through the playoffs and capture some more hardware. We will continue to support the girls and cheer them on till the end.
