Usually during the summer, many people put away fast food and snacks and turn to a more healthier diet. Personally, recently I have been eating healthier and have stopped eating fast food. During this short period of time, I have found a few recipes for healthy food alternatives that taste delicious and that are good for you. It is also inexpensive and the ingredients should last you a long time. All of these meals you can make at home. When eating healthy, it is important to have balanced meals. It is important to take care of your body because it is your temple and you only get one.

  • Smoothie bowl-

Ingredients – ½ banana, 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1 cup of frozen berries, 1 cup of almond milk (I prefer vanilla almond milk). You can add toppings such as banana, strawberries, granola, Nutella, or peanut butter, you may adjust the amount of these ingredients for the portion you are making. You will also need a blender and freezer.

You will start by blending your frozen ingredients and wet ingredients ( yogurt, and milk). Blend it until it is thick and creamy. Don’t worry if you believe it’s too soft add more frozen fruit. After blending, throw it in the freezer for around 3-5 minutes this will give it a little extra freeze. Then add your desired toppings on top. Then place it back into the freezer for your desired time. Just don’t put it in the freezer for too long or it will be frozen solid. This yummy snack takes about 10-15 minutes to make. Usually, I put it into a container for on-the-go purposes.

  • Turkey pesto sandwich-

Ingredients- Sourdough bread, turkey (or the meat of your choice), pesto, sliced tomato, avocado, and fresh mozzarella cheese.

You will start by toasting your sourdough bread in a pan on a stove. Then slice your mozzarella cheese into circles or individual pieces. Then add those pieces to your bread that should still be toasting on the stove. You should then add your meat and sliced tomatoes to the same side your mozzarella cheese is on. You will add your wet ingredients to the other side so you should cut open your avocado and smash until it is a creamy texture. Personally, I add salt to my avocado because I prefer  my guacamole to be salty. I then place it on the opposite side of my bread. Add some pesto on the same side then close your sandwich by placing the wet side on top of the bread slice that the mozzarella is on.

  • Avocado toast-

Ingredients- bread preferably sourdough bread, avocado, salt, tomatoes, and possibly egg.

You will start by toasting your toast on the stove in a pan. You will need to sit your avocado out on a table for a few days beforehand. Then cut the avocado open and smash the avocado insides until it’s a paste texture add in salt and pepper. Take the toast off the stove and then spread the avocado on top. You can choose to put tomatoes on top if you want to and cheese.

  • Apples and peanut butter-

Ingredients – apples, jiffy peanut butter, chocolate chips

I believe that this is the easiest snack on this entire list. You will start by slicing your apples into pieces or apple slices. Then you will place a few spoonfuls of peanut butter into a cup jar or plate whichever you prefer and then place your chocolate chips on top of the peanut butter, And that is it.
