Hillcrest HS National Honor Society Inducts New Members
October 30, 2020
The Hillcrest High School Falcones chapter of the National Honor Society inducted thirty-three new members on Wednesday, October 21. Due to restrictions on large gatherings, inductees were honored via a caravan of vehicles which travelled to their homes and delivered induction materials. NHS Sponsor Lindsay Lopez and Dr. Shanyta Russell, NHS Faculty Council Member, went to each inductee’s house to help congratulate them. In addition to the personal visits, the new members will also be virtually inducted at the November 4th monthly NHS meeting through Google Meet.
No matter the type of ceremony, potential inductees went through a rigorous application process and were chosen because they displayed excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
“It was bittersweet going to the houses of all of the new inductees. I loved being able to honor them, however, I wish we could be doing it in person as a group.” wrote sponsor Lindsay Lopez. “I hope they felt special and honored to be in the most elite society at Hillcrest!”
New Inductees include juniors Anayah Blakes, DeJah Bridges, Aman Brown, Ryan Butler, Damajia Daniels, William Dickens, Faith Duckworth, Nyonna Green, Chanel Hamilton, Tiyana Hannah, Asha Head, Javoi Lee, Makayla Lewis, Jennifer Okechukwu, Kahilyah Porter, Arianna Robinson, Samantha Williams, and seniors Deborah Adekale, Michael Armwood, Malik Brandon, Marcus Douglas, Aniya Downs, Katrell Folie, Andrea Green, Zekyra Jarrett, Dinah Lett, Serene Maddox Johnson, Anjilina Marshall, Mercedez Olmedo, Steven Pachuca, Kaliyah Stewart, Tahlor Sutton, and Janelle Washington.
Of the chance to join National Honor Society, inductee Anjilina Marshall said, “Being in NHS is a great opportunity for me to be in because it’s going to help me for my future, and help me learn more about myself.”
Congratulations to Hillcrest’s newest members of the National Honor Society!
