Falling in love is what many would say is one of the finer things in life. To be able to find someone that you can completely be yourself around and that accepts all of you is something that some don’t ever get the chance to experience. So when you find that person you must do everything in your power to keep them in your life.

Love is not a smooth path, but for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, that path was more like a crumbling mountain. They share their story in a new Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan which was released on December 8, 2022. The pair go into depth about the beginning of the secret courtship and even the horrible things that happened behind the doors of the palace, which resulted in Harry stepping down from his royal duties to ensure the safety of his family. People are finally getting to hear the couple’s side of the story instead of what was portrayed in the media.

The series begins with the pair talking about how their relationship started. At the time, Meghan wasn’t looking for a relationship which made meeting Harry even more shocking. After doing long distance for a couple of months, they went on a trip to Botswana and that’s when they knew they were going to be the best thing that happened to each other. After keeping their relationship a secret for as long as they could, word finally got out and what follows after that would be the biggest tester to their relationship yet. Meghan received a lot of hate for being Black and with Harry.

Many people, still stuck in the racist mindset, believe that a Black person doesn’t deserve to be in the royal family. This put a strain on their relationship, but they were able to overcome it and ended up getting married. Their wedding was a worldwide event that was covered by the media and watched by everyone. The pair went on to have their first child, Archie, and that’s when things took a turn for the worst. This was the beginning of the road to their departure from their royal duties.

I just finished this series and I would recommend it. It is refreshing to finally hear their side of the story after having to sit quietly for all those years and watch their names be drug through the mud.

The real question is: Will you be watching it?
