Nothing in life that’s worth anything is easy

— President Barack Obama

It’s the final countdown for President Obama to leave office. He will be missed greatly missed because for some citizens of the United States he was a start at change. The presidency of Obama was a great one. Barack Obama is the first African American to secure the presidential nomination of a major U.S. political party, he was the first to win presidency. There are numerous things he has for the economy and for health care. He’s the best president some say that we’ve seen in awhile.

President Obama has done a lot for the economy. Unemployment has dropped from 10.1% in October of 2009 to 4.9% by early 2016. That’s an amazing increase, and the US economy has gained over twelve million new jobs. In the article “14 Facts About Obama’s Presidency Most People Don’t Know,” it was said,  “It is also worth noting that during the 2012 presidential election, Obama’s opponent, Mitt Romney, promised to lower the unemployment rate to 6% by the end of 2016. President Obama succeeded at lowering unemployment to under 6% two full years earlier than Romney had promised.” That’s incredible, Obama got the unemployment down in 2 years when it was promised in 4. That’s providing millions of people with jobs and opportunities. He’s been a really amazing president. There was a $1.4 trillion federal budget deficit that Obama came into, and each year that he was president, it’s shrinking. The 2015 deficit was $439 billion, the smallest since 2007.

Can you believe it? Not only has he been shrinking the deficit, the government’s spending has only increased 3% each year. In the same article it said, “the lowest rate since Eisenhower was president.” Obama truly does amazing things for the economy, and people say he’s destroyed it. The facts prove them all wrong. Also the stock market continues to make new records at all-time highs. The article said, “Since early 2009, there has been a steady upward trend in stock market growth. Since most Americans have 401K retirement investments in the stock market, this growth benefits millions of middle class Americans.” A lot of people have benefited from that. In the article Obama’s Accomplishments it said “According to statistics compiled by Auto data, U.S. car sales have increased steadily every year since 2009, and in 2015 set an all-time record of 17.47 million vehicles sold.” Even car manufacturers have been benefiting from Obama’s presidency. Honestly, he’s been making everyone smile, including the economy.

President Obama just hasn’t been focusing on the economy, he also reformed healthcare. 12 to 18 million people have healthcare now thanks to President Obama. In the article 14 Facts About Obama’s Presidency Most People Don’t Know it said, “Depending on whose numbers you use, anywhere from 12 to 18 million Americans acquire health insurance due to the Affordable Care Act. Now that those millions of Americans have insurance, the rest of us are no longer on the hook to pay for their healthcare when they get sick.” So it’s not a responsibility of other Americans to pay for those who don’t because of the Affordable Care Act. This is huge because now people can get the help they need when they need it, and that’s what matters most. Also since this act passed, health insurance cost rates have slowed down. Obama created Obamacare to help millions of Americans. In Obamacare Facts, it said “Obamacare allowed the FDA to approve more generic drugs to drive competition up and prices down.” That is huge to millions of people. Most people don’t get the medicine they need because they can’t afford it, but this changes everything. Doing that can change even the difference between life and death.

The years with Obama as president have been amazing. Everyone has benefited from his presidency. He’s been amazing, and it’s so hard to say goodbye. It’ll be bittersweet. Obama has done tremendous things for healthcare and the economy. He will be greatly missed, but we all know he’ll still do greater things.
