Hillcrest’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) continues to achieve its goals and reach new heights this year.

Hillcrest State-bound BPA Members Tia Pollard, Caleb Henderson, Alleya Arzu, Delois Ivery, and Chaleisa Butler, and Faith Durden show of their Regional Conference hardware.

At Hillcrest High School, and throughout District 228, BPA students participate in leadership conferences. At these conferences students compete in various events like Business Law and Ethics, Financial Mathematics, and Legal Office Procedures, and teams compete in competitions like Business Marketing and Administrative Support. At the recent Regional Leadership Conference, sevens students qualified to move on to the State Leadership Conference state in Oak Brook Illinois, March 2nd to the 4th. Five juniors Tia Pollard, Caleb Henderson, Alleya Arzu, Delois Ivery, and Chaleisa Butler and two seniors Ruth Robert and Faith Durden placed within the top three in their event.

Congratulations to these seven students and BPA Sponsor Mr. Braden for their hard work.

Hillcrest’s BPA has also been continuing its relationship with area business. Four of BPA’s juniors were chosen to attend the Hazel Crest Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting. Pierre Tuston, Alleya Arzu, Raqeeb Yarrow, and Darlene Moore-Jones spoke about their involvement in the BPA. Pierre and the others mentioned their extreme excitement for the opportunity to be involved in the chamber meeting. They were even offered jobs and internships not only for themselves but for the class as a whole. Pierre and Darlene both won individual prizes while Pierre negotiated a TV for the class to use and enjoy.
