Students from Tinley Park and Oak Forest join Hillcrest Flight members Ciera Bailey, Mercedez Olmedo, Immanuel Moore, and Dinah Moore.

On November 6, Hillcrest High School’s Flight Poetry Club and Magazine, along with students from Tinley Park and Oak Forest, enjoyed an intimate fireplace discussion with New York Times bestseller author Carrie Jones.  She is best known for the Need series, Time Stopper series, Flying series, Girl, Hero, Tips on Having a Gay (ex) Boyfriend, and Love (and other uses for duct tape).

Jones’ authentic, relatable conversation covered a variety of topics, including her inspiration for writing, her process for creating stories, and tips on how to become a published author.  She encouraged young writers to take breaks when needed, follow their literary passions, and never give up on their love for writing. Students were able to ask Jones questions after her presentation.

Hillcrest thanks Tinley Park Literary Magazine Sponsors Sheila Lorden and Jeanne Uniek for including Hillcrest’s Flight members in this wonderful opportunity.  Flight Poetry Club and Magazine is sponsored by Mrs. Brittan Russell, faculty advisor.
