The Star Wars franchise holds a Guinness World Record title for “Most Successful Film and Merchandising Franchise.” It is the fifth highest grossing media franchise of all time, with it’s value recently being estimated at $70 Billion.

After the final movie of the sequel trilogy The Rise of Skywalker globally reached $1 billion at the box office, fans are waiting to see what’s next for the billion dollar franchise.

In recent posts on Twitter and other social media sites, Lucasfilm has announced that they’ll be streaming more movies and TV series on Disney+ in the upcoming years.

There will be series surrounding long favored characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, along with new “old” characters like Boba Fett and Lando. Lando Calrissian is the galaxy’s smoothest, most notorious scoundrel, and he’ll return in a brand-new event series,” revealed Kennedy.

In an interview Ewan Mcgregor who plays Obi-wan Kenobi told Empire, “I’m more excited about doing this one than I was doing the second and third one that we did before,” he tells Empire. “I’m just excited about working with Deborah Chow [director, who also directed episodes of The Mandalorian], and the storylines are going to be really good I think. I’m just excited to play him again. It’s been long enough since I played him before.”

Along with Ewan in the new Obi-wan Kenobi series, Hayden Christensen is also rumored to play a role in the series. We do not know, however, if it will be as Anakin or as Darth Vader.

“It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker,” Christensen says. “Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”

Fans are also bound to wonder what will come of the sequel trilogy cast?

Daisy Ridley who plays Rey in the recent trilogy reflects on her time making the movies and their outcome. “It’s just so many people have worked on this thing, like thousands upon thousands, they’re away from their family, people have been working on it for years,” she continued. “To see it come together, god, it makes me emotional just thinking about it now, it’s just an incredible thing.”

From the start, Abrams warned her to understand the scale of what she was taking on: ‘This is not a role in a movie. This is a religion for people. It changes things on a level that is inconceivable,’ she recalls him telling her.”

It’s safe to say that we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the Star Wars franchise. Fans hope to see their beloved characters come to life in the best way possible.
