Following the conclusion of the presidential election, President Trump has finally been elected out of office with nominees Joe Biden and Kamala Harris winning the keys to the White House. To America this is a huge win, which should take the economy to higher heights. However, some would say 2020 is the worst year possible and here’s why: When President Trump was sworn into office, he swore an oath to uphold the constitution, yet he empowers white supremacist, and other extremist that support him.

First, The Trump Administration undoubtedly failed to take immediate action in preventing the spread of new cases of “COVID-19”. “The Trump administration’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic marks the administration’s most glaring failure of leadership.” We depend on the government to take proper precautions to safeguard the safety of everyone, their failure has led to the death of over 10,000 people. The Trump Administration’s negligence to properly contain the spread of Covid-19 has put the lives of the entire nation at risk especially elderly and other high risk individuals. Furthermore, their continued negligence prevented them from taking preventative action to safeguard the citizens who depend on work to make ends meet. Their negligence caused The CDC to take action to prevent further cases of COVID-19.“The CDC issued dangerous guidelines that allowed essential workers to continue to work even if they may have been exposed to the coronavirus—as long as they appear to be asymptomatic and the employer implements additional limited precautions.” The Trump Administration’s failure led to a nationwide emergency. Not only does this enforce what was previously stated it proves the incompetence of the leaders we trusted to serve and protect us.

Secondly, President Trump supported racism, a very malignant problem present in today’s society. “Trump labeled them as thugs and violent anarchists….the president’s claim that he was protecting a long-vanished 1950s-style suburbia by ensuring residents would “no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low-income housing built in your neighborhood.”  The amount of disrespect in this statement is proof enough of Trump’s racist and prejudiced opinions. Trump implies that participants of the Black Lives Matter movement are incompetent and that he wanted to keep low-income separate for high-end neighborhoods suggesting segregation by class. Trump relied on the negative emotions of the people to influence racial prejudice from certain groups to attempt to overtake the presidential election. “He clung to supporters whose extremist or racist views alienated the moderates he needed to win re-election.” When electing a president we can hope that he would advocate for everyone and not just empowering others the right to oppress others entirely because of race

Thirdly, Climate Change is becoming a bigger problem as fossil fuels continue to be used and burned. Climate change refers to the warming of the planet due to greenhouse gases being trapped in the atmosphere. “The Trump administration submitted a formal request to the United Nations to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement on climate change.” This marks a huge blow in combating climate change and decreasing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. The Trump Administration has intentionally been ignoring the obvious signs of climate change. “The Trump administration has spent four years consciously ignoring—and often working against—scientists’ efforts to raise the alarm about climate change. Another red flag during President Trump’s term. He and his team decided to work against a problem that threatens not only the U.S, but the whole world.

Finally, the people of the United States of America can hope for the change they want with the benefits it could bring. For example, the eradication of the Coronavirus and transitioning back to the social norm, combating climate change. However, let’s not forget an important one, which would be combating racism. In 2021, we can hopefully expect new and better laws which will work to protect our lower and middle working class, while passing better taxation laws. These are the wishes of the people, which the Trump Administration unfortunately failed to accomplish which in the end led to him losing the re-election and being demoted.
