Sacrifice: A Review

This thriller film released on Netflix isn’t something that would normally catch my attention. Within the first 10 minutes of the movie, I found my eyes glued to the television and my body sunken in the couch.

The film was about a married couple who recently moved to the north-east part of Scotland. One of the main characters Tora comes across a body in her backyard, causing everything else to link back to this suspicious find. This movie had plenty of twisting and unpredictable plots, and I feel that this is what makes the movie what it is. Without this feature, the movie would’ve gotten 2 ½ stars from me. I think most people on Netflix agreed, because 2 ½ stars is exactly what this movie received. But again, because it was so unpredictable, I give the movie 4 stars. I love how the film kept me on the edge of my seat, and screaming at the TV: “Don’t do it!”

However, there were somethings that I would fix about this film.

In the film, I noticed that there were multiple men that looked just alike, and I found it difficult at first to determine who was who. Most people in the film had a Scottish accent, and that didn’t make it any better. I know that without the main character Tora being nosy, there wouldn’t have been a movie, but I think that if she was a little less nosy then certain things in the film could’ve been avoided. I don’t think that her decisions were very wise considering she is a surgeon.

I don’t think that many people knew about this film, and I am here to recommend this movie HIGHLY! If you are one who loves a movie that will keep you in awe, and you want your prediction on the end of the movie to be completely wrong, then go watch this movie. It makes you think about being more cautious with your surroundings, and who you surround yourself with. I know for me the lesson I learned after watching this film was to know the background of the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with, or find as much as you can on them and where they come from. I know that these things are something that Tora wished she had done to prevent being in the situation she was in.

In total, I watched this film 3 times, at first it was hard to understand because of the confusion with the characters, and the actual meaning of certain things.

Overall, it was an excellent movie, and I think it deserves 4 stars. The actors played their roles perfectly; it was like they really had a connection with their character. I guess that’s easy to say due to the fact that I was definitely fooled. I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves thrillers and mysteries. If you can’t take a little heart stopping, then this movie isn’t for you; let’s just say that occurs multiple times within this film. But I loved it!
